Movies at the Holly Springs Cultural Center

Working with the Holly Springs Cultural Center, I love to just stop by and see what is going on.  The Cultural Center offers free movies on some Saturday mornings – check the schedule for details. Today the Cultural Center was showing Chalotte’s Web.  Needless to say – moviegoers were very excited about it.

The Holly Springs Cultural Center is a great place to let your creativity grow. The Center has classes for all ages. It is great to see so many people taking advantage of all the Cultural Center has to offer. Here are some photographs from a guitar class taught at the Holly Springs Cultural Center. Check out Hurrahs online for upcoming classes.

Pilot Mill Interior

Don’t know if you have ever gotten a chance to go in the Pilot Mill, but it is really a great building. Take a look at this website to see some of the before and after photographs – truly amazing. I love when architectural history can remain and buildings be repurposed.

Here is a little history about the Pilot Cotton Mill I pulled from Wikipedia:

“Originally built between 1892 and 1910, Pilot Mill served as a textile mill until the late 1970s. At its peak, Pilot Mill housed 425 looms, 11,000 spindles, and 300 workers that transformed 5,000 bales of cotton into 8 million yards of cloth per year. After production ended in the late 1970s Pilot Mill served as a warehouse but soon began to significantly deteriorate. Pilot Mill has since been restored after the City of Raleigh threatened condemnation in 1997. When the buildings were restored in the late 1990s, all salvageable materials were used. When these materials were not available they were either custom-made or salvaged from a similar mill in South Carolina.”

Jordan Lake Camping

Keego Camping

Justin, Keego and I went camping at Jordan Lake. The campground is pretty nice. I will definitely camp there again. I love that you can see the water from most of the sites. It was a nice relaxing trip. We love being outside, going for walks, and sitting around a campfire. We will be heading to Arkansas next month for a canoe/camping trip. Can’t wait for that!

The Hard Lessons

The Hard Lessons is my favorite band from Detroit. My friends and I would have a great time watching them play at different local venues. We were actually in luck as they played at Kings tonight in downtown Raleigh. It was good to see them again and say hello. They are always pumped up and active on stage. Great songs, great performance – check them out if you get a chance.

Taking a moment to notice

It has been remarkable to see everything emerging from our backyard and in our neighborhood. Over the last few months it seems that each day there is something new popping up out of the ground or blooming. It reminds me that too often we are always running around concentrating so hard to get the day to day done. However, taking a moment to realize all the beauty around you really sets you back in the right place. I am a Autumn kind of gal, but I think this is the first time that I actually understood Spring. So make sure you take a moment today…it is going to be a great day!

Bass Lake Bridal Show is Today

Today was the Bridal Show at Bass Lake. Justin and I had a great time. It was so nice to meet all the brides-to-be and talk about their weddings. What a fun day! It was also nice to meet other local vendors in the community.

Our table

At the show, I had a drawing to enter to win free wedding photography. This is a chance for me to give back to the community and help out one lucky couple.  The drawing will take place on April 8th. Good luck to all those who entered the drawing!!! Thank you to everyone that stopped by our table. It was nice to meet you and I look forward to talking with you more about your wedding.
