Again, another great performance at the Holly Springs Cultural Center. Tim Bucktooth Drummers made you feel the beat - it looks hard to do.

All Things Festive
I went to All Things Festive with Justin in Durham, NC at the American Tobacco Historic District. It is an event put on by NPR. It was nice to check out the different vendors to learn more about some of the things offered in the area. This was also the first time I have been to the Tobacco District. Wow is all I have to say. I love the space! I definately want to head back and do some more photo exploring. While at the event, we caught a few tunes from the Squirrel Nut Zippers.

So much going on at the Holly Springs Cultural Center
Make sure to check the calendar frequently at the Holly Springs Cultural Center. They are always adding events, classes, concerts, and more to their schedule. Today they had an International Day with desserts from around the world.

Triangle Brass Band
The Triangle Brass Band played this evening at the Holly Springs Cultural Center. I really enjoyed photographing the band. I was in the band in High School. I was a Drum Major and also played the flute. Brass instruments really hit a cord in my heart. I love the look of them - all the curves of shiny metal. I think it also stems to the wonderment and envy of the players. How with only a few keys (if any) they can get such a tonal range of sounds. The Triangle Brass Band was great so make sure you hunt down their next performance!

Steve Logan at the Cultural Center
Don’t forget that the Holly Springs Cultural Center has free outdoor concerts. It was great to hang out and listen to Steve Logan play. Hope to see you at the next concert!

Congratulations to Jessica & Zane
Today Jessica and Zane were married. Congratulations to them! Their wedding and reception were at the Bass Lake Park and Retreat in Holly Springs, NC. So many great photographs to pick from it is hard to just put a few on my blog. The one with her dad looking at her smiling as he walks down the isle is a beautiful moment. Also, mom and dad hugging the newlyweds right after the ceremony really captures their love and support. The reception was full of energy with almost everyone dancing to the three piece band of a banjo, mandolin, and violin.

Jessica’s Bridal Portraits
Today I photographed Jessica’s Bridal Portraits at Bass Lake Park & Retreat Center in Holly Springs, NC. What a great backdrop for photography. I love the image of her in the woods. She looks like an angel or a beautiful fairy with the light shining & enveloping her. We had a lot of fun. She looks great!

Kayaking on Lake Crabtree & Debbie & Jason’s Wedding Anniversary
Debbie and Jason came down from Manayunk for the weekend. We took a little paddle on Lake Crabtree. There are lots of little shoot-offs on the Lake to explore. Can’t wait to come back again. This weekend was also Debbie & Jason’s one year wedding anniversary. They got married at First Presbyterian Church in Northville, MI. We stopped at Belle Isle in Detroit for some great shots and then headed to the Roostertail in Detroit, MI. All of these locations are impressive backdrops for all photography. I miss shooting at Belle Isle.
Here are a few of my favorite pics from their wedding. Congratulations guys - to one year and many more!

Angela & Lee’s Engagement Photographs
Today I went to Angela’s and Lee’s home to shoot their engagement session. It was a lot of fun discovering all the great nooks and crannies of their yard. What a perfect backdrop for photographs. Of course we had to get a family portrait with all the dogs too.
Angela & Lee are getting married November 10th, 2007 in Arden, NC. I am sure the setting there will be picturesque as well. I can’t wait to share in this special day with Angela and Lee! Congratulations on your engagement!

Breast Cancer is the Leading Cancer Among White and African American Women
Born in a promise between two sisters – Nancy Brinker to her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36 – the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has become the world’s largest and most progressive grassroots network fighting to end breast cancer forever. Today was the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event in Raleigh with more than 20,000 runners and walkers participated. I ran in the 5K. It started at Meredith College and looped through neighborhoods to end back at Meredith College. If you would like to donate, you still have a chance. Click here to donate. This was the 11th annual race. Watch the website for the release of next year’s race date and sign up to make a difference.

Carrie & Isaac’s Engagement Photographs
Today I met with Carrie & Issac to photograph their engagement portraits. It was a meaningful location as it was in her parent’s backyard and at a park by her parent’s home. Environmental portraits I feel really capture more about who a person is. Everyone is more relaxed and we always have a lot of fun. I am not a huge fan of a flat backdrop in a confined area. It is more exciting and rewarding to include natural surroundings in your photographs.Carrie & Isaac are getting married on July 21, 2007 . Wow it is coming up quick! I can’t wait to see them on their wedding day!
