Independence Day - United
Congratulations to Jenny and Earl! Taking a day of independence and turning it into a day to unite, Jenny and Earl were married on the 4th of July. The ceremony and reception was at the Magnolia Manor, in Colfax, NC. Everyone was out on the dance floor having a great time. Here is a little glimpse.

Courtney’s Bridal Portraits
We headed over to UNC for Courtney’s Bridal portraits. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has some great locations that fit in with the style that Courtney had in mind for her portraits. She also had a personal connection to the location which makes the background even more meaningful. It was hard to pick, but here are some of my favorite shots.

Congratulations to Nikki and David!
Nikki and David were married at Wake Chapel Christian Church in Fuquay-Varina, NC. Wake Chapel was embellished with Lilies in vases, wreaths, and at the end of the pews lining the isle. You could smell their sweet fragrance as soon as you walked in. The day was beautiful filled with lots of sun with the only consequence of the temperature being high. Fans became our best friend to keep everyone cool. {See Nikki below}. After the ceremony we headed over to MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary, NC for the reception. Both locations were beautiful. Everything was turned out perfect for Nikki and David. Congratulations again to Nikki and David. May we all get together again to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

4-H Photography Competition Thoughts
Let me just say it was really great to see all the work of the entrants ranging in age from 4 to 18 years old at the 4-H Photography Competition. It is always eye opening to see what others see, especially when all the photographs center on one topic: this time the topic being horses. I hope my comments to the students brings them even more ideas, inspiration, and interest in photography. I hope they all keep going out there and exploring the world around them through their cameras.
There was a lot of really great work including two younger entrants that stood out in my mind. One was 8 and the other was 6! I couldn’t believe it. Looking at their photographs, you could almost feel the moment and see the soul of the horses they were photographing. It was amazing. You could really feel the connection they felt at the moment the photograph was taken.
I am so glad we live in the world with digital photography so easily available. It allows children to have the opportunity to be creative with a camera without the many expenses in the past of film and developing. Now you can even cross off the worry of a little one breaking your digital camera with the “Kid Tough” digital cameras now available for even the littlest photographers. They are free to explore all that they can reach!

North Carolina 4-H Photography Competition
I am excited to be one of the judges for the upcoming North Carolina 4-H State Photography Competition. The competition is being held this Friday at the Hunt Complex. The entries are from youth involved in the 4-H organization. I can’t wait to see all of the photographs that have been entered into the competition. Good luck to all the entrants!
