Forever Young Photography Pledges to Support Earth Hour 2010
I hope you are already in the know about Earth Hour. If not, please check it out and participate on Saturday at 8:30pm your local time. All you have to do is turn the lights/power out to join in. Forever Young Photography has signed up to Pledge our Support for Earth Hour 2010.
Here is an excerpt from the Earth Hour Website explaining Earth Hour:
“Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million homes and businesses turned their lights off for one hour to make their stand against climate change. Only a year later and Earth Hour had become a global sustainability movement with more than 50 million people across 35 countries participating. Global landmarks such as the, Sydney Harbour Bridge, The CN Tower in Toronto, The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and Rome’s Colosseum, all stood in darkness, as symbols of hope for a cause that grows more urgent by the hour.
In March 2009, hundreds of millions of people took part in the third Earth Hour. Over 4000 cities in 88 countries officially switched off to pledge their support for the planet, making Earth Hour 2009 the world’s largest global climate change initiative.”

Happy Holidays – Studio Hours
Forever Young Photography will be closed this afternoon for the holiday season. Our studio will be back open on Monday. I hope you cherish the moments of the holiday season with you family and friends. Warm wishes from Forever Young Photography.
Happy Holidays – Gift of Trees
Happy Holidays from Forever Young Photography LLC. I hope you are enjoying the season and making some time for yourself to relax and reflect on the year. Instead of sending holiday cards this year, I have decided to spread the cheer a few different greener ways – literally. Forever Young Photography has planted trees through the Arbor Day Foundation in the honor of past and current clients this year. Native Pine, Fir, & Cedar Trees will be planted in the Plumas National Forest. Also, instead of sending paper cards this year, our holiday greetings are via electronic greetings.
I wish you and your family a happy, healthy holiday season!!

The American Cancer Society: San Mateo County Inaugural Gala Donation
I am happy to announce that one of my personal works will be auctioned off to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. I donated a 24″ x 30″ Gallery Wrap of a photograph by Forever Young Photography LLC.
I am happy to donate this piece to the organization and hope that it brings in a good amount in the silent auction.
Interested in getting tickets for the event? Check out the ACS website. The event takes place this weekend – Saturday October 17, 2009 in Menlo Park, CA. Tickets for the evening are $100.
More information about how the money raised will be put to good use are listed below. Check out their website for more information.
“We aspire to make this a successful Inaugural Event with your help. Funds raised at the gala will support American Cancer Society’s cancer research and free community-based patient services such as:
- Provide accurate and timely information to cancer patients, families and caregivers 24/7 through our toll-free hotline: 1-800-227-2345.
- Fund state-of-the-art cancer research projects. This past year alone, American Cancer Society has funded 150 research projects in California totaling over $62 million.
- Give a wig and a makeover to a woman who has lost her hair due to cancer treatment.
- Provide a ride for a cancer patient to a treatment appointment and back home.”
Advice from a Bumblebee
When photographing a wedding, a bride had the little notebook above. I thought it was a really cute saying and wanted to share it with you. Do something special today to enjoy the present. Happy Summer!
Have an old pair of jeans you can’t part with???
Okay so I like many people have a fav pair of jeans that has passed its prime. I have come to terms with the fact that it is time to send them off to a better place. Unfortunetly, they are so past a state to donate to Good Will – they have holes and would not make it on the rack to be resold. So, I searched the internet in hopes for a jean recycling program. I thought I had heard that there were companies out there that would recycle jeans; with a little searching I found the perfect one: Cotton from Blue to Green. Here is an explanation of the program from the website:
“What Are We Going to Do With All This Denim?
All the denim will be donated to COTTON. FROM BLUE TO GREEN.®. This denim drive recycles jeans into UltraTouch™ Natural Cotton Fiber Insulation, which is used to help build houses in places that have been damaged by hurricanes, tornadoes, and other natural disasters. Your jeans will help set a record, keep clothes out of landfills, and build houses for families to live in!
It’s a Fact
It takes about 500 pairs of jeans to recycle enough denim to insulate one average-size U.S. house. So send us lots!”
Have a pair of jeans that you should really pass along? Now you have a good reason to do so. Click here for more info on the program. I am going to send my jeans in today. I feel good that my fav jeans will be put to a good use. Hurry and send yours in too. They have to be received by June 30th!!
“Attending” Virtual Photography Trade Show
It is always great to learn new things. I feel it is important to keep growing and challenging yourself. I just registered for an online photography trade show which fits in line with my environmental action plan that I recently discussed on my blog. No traveling required, the tradeshow is brought to you all online – presentations, classes, exhibits, networking all done from your compuer. If you are a professional photographer and would like to sign up for the tradeshow, here’s the link.
